About The Position
Paradise Valley Hospital, a member of Prime Healthcare, is seeking an Emergency Medical Technician to join its team. The hospital is a 291-bed acute care facility in National City that provides emergency, surgical, rehabilitation, cardiac, behavioral health, and other services to the community. The EMT assesses and provides basic management of medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies under the supervision of a staff nurse and/or physician. The role assists with patient care according to individual patient needs and within the EMT’s scope of practice, helps maintain a safe environment, and works under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience, required for new hires effective April 2014.
- Basic EMT training or emergency-room experience required.
- Current BLS certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
- Certified or licensed EMT by the state certifying agency/entity required.
Responsibilities
- Assess and provide basic management of medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies under the supervision of a staff nurse and/or physician.
- Assist with patient care based on individual patient needs and within the scope of practice.
- Assist in maintaining a safe environment.
- Perform duties under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.
