About The Position
The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) provides patient care at Pulaski County Jail in Little Rock, Arkansas. Under the supervision of the physician, the EMT performs medical screening during booking in accordance with policies and procedures, current standards of practice and care, and applicable state and federal regulations. The role is a 12-hour night shift with rotating weekends.
Requirements
- Certification as an Emergency Medical Technician in accordance with state regulations.
- Current CPR certification.
Responsibilities
- Monitor patients and report changes in condition or vital signs.
- Perform and record vital signs.
- Complete intake screenings in accordance with policies, procedures, and applicable standards.
- Observe, record, and report patient symptoms and conditions to the nurse.
- Routinely inspect, clean, and monitor equipment and supplies; report issues for correction or repair.
- Use Universal Precautions and follow infection-control policies and procedures.
- Communicate accurately and factually with patients, staff, and others; seek clarification from or refer questions to a nurse when indicated.
- Work collaboratively with healthcare team members and correctional staff to coordinate patient care.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
