About The Position

Medics First is seeking part-time Basic EMTs for its Springfield location. Medics First is a leading provider of emergency and scheduled ambulance services in Central and Western Illinois, and parts of Iowa. As a private, not-for-profit organization, we are dedicated to community benefit. Our EMTs are crucial in providing care to patients during emergency responses, interfacility transports, and standby events. EMTs at Medics First typically work 12 or 24-hour shifts.

Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
Current EMT license in Illinois
Current American Heart Association BLS CPR certification
Must possess a valid Illinois driver's license
Ability to bend, pull, push, and lift up to 100 pounds (subject to physical exam)
Ability to follow oral and written instructions
Demonstrated ability to implement clinical care in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
Ability to exercise sound judgment while working in a stressful environment

Nice To Haves

1 year of experience in an emergency care setting

Responsibilities

Examine and evaluate patients to determine necessary care
Provide patients with emergency care by utilizing appropriate techniques and equipment
Document patient information, condition, and treatment
Maintain patient confidentiality and perform all care with respect for patient rights
Transport patients in accordance with outlined policies and procedures
Maintain a safe, clean, and well-stocked environment in accordance with company vehicle check-off sheets and inventory requirements
Operate and drive an ambulance in conjunction with applicable safety policies and laws
Assist paramedics in all advanced life support situations
Maintain current certification(s) according to provisions set forth by the governing licensure
Maintain a professional appearance and attitude at all times
Present and promote a positive company image
