EMT/AEMT- Night Shift

About The Position

UPMC is hiring a full-time EMT/AEMT to support Dauphin-Perry County on a night-shift schedule from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. The position requires weekend and holiday work. The incumbent must be able to work in all weather conditions, including rain, snow, heat, and cold, and may respond to emergency, hazardous, or high-risk situations while following appropriate safety equipment and procedures. Applicants will be placed in the appropriate job title based on their experience and education. The position offers a $2,500 sign-on bonus with a one-year work commitment. The role provides emergency medical care to critically ill and injured people within the Pennsylvania Department of Health scope of practice and protocols. It includes maintaining and driving the transport vehicle, assisting with patient movement, documenting and communicating patient observations and care, and helping ensure quality care for guests and employees at assigned locations. The employee also interacts with diverse groups using customer-service skills and attends continuing education and refresher training as required.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
One of the following credentials: Advanced Emergency Medical Technician, Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), or Emergency Medical Technician—Paramedic.
Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
Driver's license; per accreditation standards, the driver must have been licensed for two years.
Emergency Vehicle Operator certification; in North Central Pennsylvania and Central Pennsylvania, this may be obtained within 90 days of hire.
Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting certification with renewal.
Act 33 clearance with renewal.
Act 34 clearance with renewal.
Act 73 FBI clearance with renewal.
Ability to work in all weather conditions and potentially respond to emergency, hazardous, or high-risk situations while following safety procedures.
Availability to work weekends and holidays.

Nice To Haves

Previous ambulance and/or hospital experience.

Responsibilities

Maintain the transport vehicle in efficient operating condition.
Assist in moving patients.
Identify assessment findings that may require communication with medical direction for advice and notification that special professional services and assistance should be available upon arrival at the medical facility.
Maintain appropriate documentation of patient care, incident reports, and other necessary reports.
Verbally and in writing report observations and emergency medical care provided at the scene for records and diagnostics; provide assistance to the transporting ambulance upon request.
Encourage a safe, pleasant work environment for team members.
Respond to emergency calls and provide efficient, immediate care to critically ill and injured people within Pennsylvania Department of Health scope of practice and protocols.
Interact and communicate with various groups and individuals using customer-service skills.
Keep the transport vehicle and equipment clean, washed, and orderly.
Attend continuing education and refresher training programs as required by employers, medical direction, licensing, or certifying agencies.
Ensure quality health and medical care for guests and employees at assigned locations.
Drive an ambulance safely in accordance with policies and traffic laws.
