About The Position

Responsible for supporting and conducting education programs for affiliate EMS providers and the community which relate to the education or promotion of emergency medical service and making decisions regarding these programs. Serves as a hospital representative in the community to maintain current and independently develop new affiliations and maintain current relationships with public and private EMS service providers and other community organizations. Acts as a liaison between JMH and affiliates JMH sponsors. Researches and investigates call concerns and provides feedback to involved agencies for performance improvement opportunities. Responsible to conduct monthly audits and reviews in conjunction with Medical Director as required by the State EMS Commission and serves as a member of the Audit and Review committee for affiliated services. Keeps the Emergency Department Administrative staff informed of changes which affect the hospital related to State EMS Commission regulations and laws. Keeps updated on Indiana State EMS Commission regulations and state laws in order to establish and maintain a current set of protocols for all providers affiliated with the hospital. Works with Medical Director and affiliates to update protocols as needed. Provides remedial training to EMTs identified through the audit and review process. Involved with scheduling EMT students acting as a liaison between schools and JMH ED. Performs other duties as assigned by Department Director. Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician Certification program.
  • Graduate of a Paramedic Training program.
  • Current certification as specified by Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission.
  • Successfully complete CPR and ACLS course and stay current.
  • Appropriate number of in-service hours and appropriate records to maintain Paramedic status with the State of Indiana.
  • Must be CPR instructor.
  • Must be comfortable in a teaching position.
