About The Position

Johnson Memorial Health is seeking an EMS Coordinator to support and conduct education programs for affiliate EMS providers and the community. This role involves serving as a hospital representative in the community, developing and maintaining affiliations with public and private EMS service providers and other community organizations. The coordinator will act as a liaison between JMH and its sponsored affiliates, research and investigate call concerns, and provide feedback for performance improvement. Additionally, the position requires conducting monthly audits and reviews in conjunction with the Medical Director, staying updated on Indiana State EMS Commission regulations and laws, and establishing/maintaining current protocols. The role also involves providing remedial training to EMTs, scheduling EMT students, and performing other duties as assigned by the Department Director, all while ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and JMH policies.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Emergency Medical Technician Certification program.
  • Graduate of a Paramedic Training program.
  • Current certification as specified by Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission.
  • Successfully complete CPR and ACLS course and stay current.
  • Must have appropriate number of in-service hours and appropriate records to maintain Paramedic status with the State of Indiana.
  • Must be CPR instructor.
  • Must be comfortable in a teaching position.

Responsibilities

  • Support and conduct education programs for affiliate EMS providers and the community related to emergency medical service.
  • Serve as a hospital representative in the community to maintain and develop affiliations with public and private EMS service providers and other community organizations.
  • Act as a liaison between JMH and its sponsored affiliates.
  • Research and investigate call concerns and provide feedback to involved agencies for performance improvement.
  • Conduct monthly audits and reviews in conjunction with the Medical Director as required by the State EMS Commission.
  • Serve as a member of the Audit and Review committee for affiliated services.
  • Keep the Emergency Department Administrative staff informed of changes affecting the hospital related to State EMS Commission regulations and laws.
  • Stay updated on Indiana State EMS Commission regulations and state laws to establish and maintain current protocols for all providers affiliated with the hospital.
  • Work with the Medical Director and affiliates to update protocols as needed.
  • Provide remedial training to EMTs identified through the audit and review process.
  • Be involved with scheduling EMT students, acting as a liaison between schools and JMH ED.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Department Director.
  • Conduct all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures, including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.
