About The Position

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Employment and Training Services, is recruiting for an Employment Services Technician 3 located in Anchorage. This position is in the Supervisory Unit (SS) at a Range 16. The Employment Services Technician 3 (EST 3) is a supervisory role responsible for overseeing daily operations in the Anchorage Midtown Job Center’s resource room. You will ensure customers receive effective, high-quality service while providing supervision, direction, and program support to Employment Services Technician 1 staff. Your responsibilities include hiring, scheduling, training, and managing performance, as well as guiding day-to-day workflow. You will also maintain strong partnerships with workforce and community organizations, monitor program performance, and uphold service quality across all resource room activities. The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Employment and Training Services’ mission is to provide labor exchange, employment and training services, and unemployment insurance to Alaskans and Alaska businesses to advance opportunities for employment and provide economic stability for communities in Alaska. Requirements

  • One year of experience as an Employment Services Technician 2 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.
  • OR Two years of experience as an Employment Services Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.
  • OR Three years of experience such as providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Adaptability: Adjusts planned work by gathering relevant information and applying critical thinking to address multiple demands and competing priorities in a changing environment.
  • Clerical: Knowledge of filing, typing, entering data, maintaining records, and using and completing forms.
  • Customer Service: Works with clients and customers to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
