About The Position

The Department of Labor and Workforce Development, Division of Employment and Training Services, is recruiting for an Employment Services Technician 1/2 located in Anchorage. This position is in the General Government Unit (GGU) at a Range 14/15. Employment Services Technicians deliver core employment, reemployment, and business services while administering SAEEI, SAEF, WIOA Title 1B, and STEP programs. In this role, you will learn eligibility criteria, program guidelines, case management systems, and how to support the creation and operation of Registered Apprenticeship programs. You will assist employers and apprentices with apprenticeship development, workforce preparation, labor-market information, and ongoing caseload management. You will also help ensure individuals overcome employment barriers by coordinating training resources and connecting them with appropriate services. This position engages employers, apprentices, and partner agencies to support workforce development across the region. This position plays a vital part in the division’s mission of strengthening Alaska’s workforce and encouraging economic stability for communities in Alaska. Requirements

  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Alaska Residents must meet Alaska Residency Requirements.
  • Employment Services Technician Level 1: One year of experience providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.
  • Employment Services Technician Level 2: One year of experience as an Employment Services Technician 1 with the State of Alaska or equivalent elsewhere.
  • OR Two years of experience providing employment services; coordinating training services; conducting skills assessments; making referrals to community support services; assisting individuals apply for federal/state financial assistance or benefits; providing services to the public; explaining policies, procedures, services, or requirements to the public; resolving customer complaints or problems; calculating costs, refunds, taxes, or benefits; providing written explanations, summaries, reports, or correspondence; or locating and inputting information into data systems such as reservation, ticketing, or application systems.
  • Must certify that they have a legal right to accept employment in the United States.
