Employment Services Specialist- STEPs
About The Position
Arc Herkimer is hiring an Employment Services Specialist for its STEPs program. The role supports people with disabilities at a variety of supported job sites throughout the area. The specialist helps individuals build work-related skills, pursue personal goals, and gain experience through classroom and on-site job education. The position involves teamwork, hands-on support, encouragement, and empowerment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., with flexibility. The specialist must be able to adjust their schedule by approximately 2.5 hours each week to assist with a supportive employment project. Pay is $20 to $22.50 per hour, with opportunities for increased pay based on education.
Requirements
- Meet one of the following education and experience combinations: a bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Business, or a related course of study and one year of related experience; an associate degree in Human Services, Business, or a related course of study and two years of related experience; or a high school diploma and three years of related experience.
- Have an agency-approvable driver’s license.
- Have a working vehicle and be willing to drive a personal vehicle.
Nice To Haves
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities.
- Experience in job placement, broad knowledge of industrial and commercial work opportunities, or experience as a Vocational Counselor.
Responsibilities
- Support individuals with disabilities at a variety of supported job sites throughout the area.
- Build work-related skills through activities such as production, stocking, folding, and cleaning.
- Help individuals work toward personal goals.
- Lead hands-on activities through classroom education and on-site job education.
- Work collaboratively with a team to accomplish goals.
- Encourage and empower the individuals receiving support.
- Adjust hours by approximately 2.5 hours each week to assist with a supportive employment project.
