About The Position

This is administrative and professional recruiting work with an emphasis on casting a wide net to a variety of applicant pools to support the University's strategic goals and workforce needs. The individual provides best-practice recruitment strategies and recommendations designed to attract, hire, and retain a highly qualified workforce that enhances the University's mission and the student experience. The position also fosters relationships and builds community partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to strengthen the University's employment brand and talent pipeline. Responsibilities include representing the University at recruitment, educational, networking, and community engagement events, which may require attendance during evenings and weekends. Under the general direction of the Director, Employment and Recruiting, work will be reviewed through meetings, reports, statistical analysis, and observation of results.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or related field from an accredited educational institution and a minimum of two year of progressively responsible professional experience in human resources recruitment or talent acquisition.
Experience with onboarding, applicant tracking systems, and posting positions to job boards and social media platforms is required.
Experience with HR recruiting and casting a wide net to increase applicant pools for faculty and non-faculty searches.
An understanding of human resources and employment laws and practices, specifically Title VII, ADEA, IRCA, EOE, and Affirmative Action.
The ability to perform research and statistical analysis.
Knowledge of software applications, including Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Strong customer service orientation and ability to work with committees and teams. Ability to gain the respect and develop rapport with of all constituencies.
Knowledge of various community organizations, professional organizations and other existing resources, and ability to reach out to these resources in order to create qualified applicant pools.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
Ability to work independently on responsible and confidential assignments.
Ability and willingness to work beyond core hours and days in order to attend recruiting events, orientation sessions and to conduct applicant interviews (some evening hours and occasional weekends), etc.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Human Resources or a related field of study
Experience recruiting in a higher education environment
PHR and/or SHRM-CP certification
Knowledge of Banner, Cornerstone, Interfolio, CMS and employment-related social media platforms is preferred.

Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting hiring departments as assigned with the employment process. This includes: reviewing hiring policies and procedures, posting positions, drafting and placing ads in a timely manner, screening applications, interviewing, making referrals, conducting appropriate reference and background checks, and completing required record keeping for both faculty and non-faculty position searches.
Represents the University at job fairs, community outreach organizations, and related events in order to promote Duquesne as an employer of choice, increase the qualified applicant pool and establishes and maintains relationships with external community groups, agencies and recruiting sources.
Assists with the development of policies and programs to attract, retain and promote a qualified workforce for the University.
Conducts research on employment strategies and advertising resources; develops benchmark statistical information to identify and measure the success of various advertising efforts and for making suggested improvements.
Develops and implements engaging and meaningful training and educational programs for hiring managers on employment law and best practices related to hiring; develops toolkits and related online resources.
Keeps current on recruitment programs, laws and issues by maintaining contact with peers at other institutions of higher learning, others in the field of HR, and through professional development and community organizations.
Develops and implements hiring best practices with a focus on improving the applicant experience. Participate as lead for special projects as assigned to enhance the applicant experience (i.e. the Dual Career Program with CMU, Cornerstone project testing, CMS Training for career website updates, etc.).
Serves as the coordinator for the University’s award-winning professional development fellows program; sources candidates, works with departments to identify learning outcomes, gathers performance feedback, mentors, connects candidates with other mentors or resources to enhance professional growth and development, connects fellows with appropriate internal job opportunities as the fellowship comes to a close, etc. Promotes and seeks out ways in which to publicize the Professional Development Fellows Program.
Develops, implements, and utilizes various social media platforms and video in order to post positions and recruit passive job seekers. Serves as lead for posting social media/advertising and job board requests.
Participates in and/or coordinates group new hire tax and employment form meetings and serves as regular back up and assists with front office operations/coverage and customer services.
Partners with the Director, Employment and Recruiting to mentor the HR Assistant or others as needed (i.e. new hire orientation, Interfolio and Cornerstone processes, recruitment, closure of reqs, onboarding, etc.)
Supports and proactively takes steps to impact the HR Strategic Plan with regard to enhancing community outreach efforts to increase the number of qualified applicants as well as exploring recruitment partnerships with various community partners and institutions.
Partners with the Director, Employment and Recruiting to respond to customer tickets and outreach from candidates, clients, etc.
Partners with Director, Employment and Recruiting for specialized audits and projects as assigned (i.e. Act 153 , I-9 audits and immigration matters, etc.)
Assists the Director, AVP and CHRO with special projects and assignments as needed.
Completes other duties as assigned.
