About The Position

The Immigrant Education Society (TIES) is a not-for-profit registered charitable organization that has been actively serving newcomers and low-income Calgarians since 1988. TIES' primary goal is to provide immigrants and economically disadvantaged individuals with a solid foothold in Canada and afford them the opportunities to feel belonging in their new community.

To provide high-quality, innovative language education, economic empowerment support, and holistic services for newcomers and Canadians in need, along with community-based research that benefits the broader community.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or currently enrolled in college or university
• Comfortable with using technology, e.g. MS Office, Internet, skype, websites
• Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment
• Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or a person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment
• Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation
• International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizen or permanent residents

• Experience working with non-profit organizations is an asset

Responsibilities

• Conduct outreach to employers, community organizations, and partners to promote employment programs and services
• Assist in building and maintaining relationships with employers to support job placement opportunities
• Coordinate outreach activities, including presentations, meetings, and networking events
• Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, employer contacts, and partnership development
• Support the promotion of employment programs through various channels, including email and social media
• Assist with matching clients to employment opportunities based on skills and program eligibility
• Support reporting and tracking of outreach outcomes and employment placements
