About The Position

Sisu Youth Services offers shelter, support, and housing for youth experiencing homelessness. Sisu is piloting a NEW workforce readiness program to provide career education paired with individualized job placement and retention support for our clients. The Employment Coordinator will facilitate the educational phase of the program by teaching the curriculum, conducting surveys and measurement reporting, and leading experiential learning opportunities. The Employment Coordinator is a non-exempt, full-time employee reporting to the Employment Manager. The Employment Coordinator role is part of a team consisting of an Employment Navigator and an Employment Manager. Employment, compensation, and position continuation are subject to the provisions and/or continuation of grant funding.

Requirements

  • Public speaking and presentation skills, including in large & small groups.
  • Ability to create and maintain a structured and supportive learning environment.
  • Ability to adapt communication and instruction to learning styles.
  • Must be patient, empathetic, and willing to ensure a trauma-informed environment while maintaining boundaries.
  • Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and communicate effectively about their work and deadlines. Must be detail-oriented.
  • Must be flexible for changing program needs and willing to participate in continuous quality improvement.
  • Must take initiative and hold oneself accountable for completing projects.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Able to work as part of a collaborative team as well as independently.
  • Working knowledge of standard office software, including Google Workspace.
  • Commitment to answer phones, texts, and emails daily and respond promptly.
  • 2+ years of experience teaching, training, or facilitating hands-on learning experiences
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Licensed with a clean driving history, auto insurance, and reliable transportation. Local travel will be required.

  • Experience with youth and young adults, LGBTQ+, mental health, social services, or nonprofits is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Internalize and teach the curriculum to ensure a standardized experience for all participants.
  • Assist participants in developing the skills needed to succeed in their chosen career paths.
  • Prepare and organize supplies and learning materials for each day’s lesson.
  • Recruit and enroll program participants.
  • Complete weekly reports and conduct pre/post session measurement tools.
  • Transport participants in the company’s 15-passenger van and ensure their safety (CDL not required).
  • Represent Sisu with excellence when communicating and coordinating with community partners.
  • Exercise classroom management techniques to ensure a safe and productive learning environment.
  • Provide feedback about and implement curriculum changes as needed for continuous quality improvement
  • Collaborate with Employment Program teammates and the participants’ case managers to build detailed client service plans
  • Actively participate in case meetings, staff meetings, and interdepartmental coordination.
  • Prepare timely and accurate statistical data and reports as required.
  • Attend and participate in assigned training and professional development activities, including autonomous upskilling
  • Teach make-up sessions as needed.
  • Any other duties related to Employment Support as assigned.
