About The Position

The Employee/Labor Relations Specialist collaborates with the Sr. Director of Employee and Labor Relations to provide expertise and guidance to all levels of management related to employee and labor relations issues. This role requires a strong understanding of HR policies, labor laws, and the ability to conduct sensitive investigations and provide training to managers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or equivalent work experience is required.
  • Minimum 2 years HR related experience in an employee relations, labor relations, or HR Generalist role.
  • Knowledgeable of all Guthrie Policies and Procedures, organizational structure and operations, including employee substance abuse policy.
  • Must collaborate with Human Resources Senior Leadership Team and other HR staff as necessary to insure consistent application of policies and procedures and recommends updates and changes as appropriate.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Title VII, Civil Rights Act, ADA, FMLA, Fair Labor Standards Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, and National Labor Relations Act.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment law for Pennsylvania and New York.
  • Is able to collect and process EEOC charges with the assistance of the TGC attorney.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in HR or related field is preferred.
  • Preference will be given to those candidates with experience specific to healthcare.

Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance to managers on policies and labor relations, including conducting sensitive investigations and monitoring disciplinary procedures.
  • Administer HR policies in a consistent and fair manner, collaborating with Human Resources Senior Leadership Team and other HR staff to ensure consistent application and recommend updates.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees and management for any employment issue.
  • Conduct work environment assessments as needed for departments, units, or workgroups.
  • Partner with HR Leadership to provide HR support to leadership at all Guthrie entities as assigned, and provide support for various HR Projects and/or basic HR maintenance coverage.
  • Collaborate with HR Leadership to ensure the Employee Relations Division remains current with the changing regulatory and/or employment law environment.
  • Assist managers and employees with ADA concerns and recommendations.
  • Maintain current knowledge of Title VII, Civil Rights Act, ADA, FMLA, Fair Labor Standards Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, and National Labor Relations Act.
  • Identify and communicate HR related risks & issues to Sr. HR Leaders and collaborate with HR Leadership to solve tactical workforce problems and improve employee satisfaction.
  • Maintain current knowledge of employment law for Pennsylvania and New York, and collect and process EEOC charges with the assistance of the TGC attorney.
  • Conduct Exit Interviews and report on data as necessary.
  • Participate in planning and implementation of site-specific employee recognition events.
  • Assist hospital, medical group, and practice operational leaders with compliance with Joint Commission standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Assist with investigations and training related to Title IX policy as needed.
  • Maintain current understanding of Guthrie’s Compensation program.
  • Refer employees to Employee Assistance Program benefits as appropriate.
  • Assist Total Rewards Director with the implementation or communication related to benefit and compensation programs.
