About The Position

St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital has an exciting opportunity in Human Resources on our Employee Relations Team! We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Employee Relations Advisor to provide expertise and practical guidance on all employee and labor relations-related issues. In this role, you will have a significant impact on our hospital’s culture by handling complex employee relations matters, conducting investigations, and promoting a positive and supportive work environment. The selected candidate will need to handle difficult conversations with professionalism, mediate between different parties, and stay current on employment laws and regulatory requirements. You’ll also be instrumental in providing consultation to staff on issues related to morale, compliance, and organizational policies, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of excellence.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, conflict resolution, or human resources.
  • Strong understanding of labor laws, workplace regulations, and compliance requirements.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to listen, analyze, and communicate complex issues clearly and effectively.
  • Ability to handle difficult conversations with empathy, professionalism, and tact.
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • A passion for creating a positive, inclusive workplace culture where employees feel valued and supported.
  • Minimum Requirement: 2+ years of HR or related experience.
  • Some experience/ working knowledge of principles and practices of ER systems and programs.
  • Experience performing complex reporting and analyses.

Nice To Haves

  • Workday experience preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (e.g., Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) including Google Sheets Slides, preferred.
  • Proven performance in earlier role.
  • Experience with Unions is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct Investigations: Lead thorough, impartial investigations into employee concerns, complaints, or potential violations of company policies, ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
  • Resolve Conflicts: Mediate and facilitate resolutions to workplace conflicts, helping both employees and leadership navigate sensitive situations and maintain a positive work atmosphere.
  • Mitigate Risk: Identify, assess, and provide guidance on potential risks related to employee relations issues, minimizing legal or organizational exposure.
  • Consult and Advise: Provide expert consultation to staff on issues related to morale, employee satisfaction, and regulatory requirements, ensuring compliance with laws, policies, and best practices.
  • Stay Informed: Keep up to date with changes in employment laws, labor regulations, and best practices to offer sound advice and support across the organization.
  • Build Strong Relationships: Develop strong working relationships with internal stakeholders, including managers, employees, and senior leadership, to foster open communication and collaboration.
  • Collaborate with a Team: Work closely with a diverse HR team, sharing insights and best practices to tackle challenges and support the success of the organization’s mission.
