Essential Job Duties: The Employee Nurse (EHN) is a Registered Nurse who provides direct and indirect nursing care for employees, contract employees and non-employee groups, with an emphasis on employee health. Reporting jointly to the Director of Human Resources, Infection Prevention Manager, and Chief Nursing Officer the EHN utilizes established protocols and current standards of care to meet the wide variety of health care needs and requirements as related to the employee population. The EIN is responsible for assisting with analytical, fiscal, and managerial support for the Employee Health and Infection Prevention programs. Maintains employee health records and departmental databases. Reviews new on-hire screenings and annual employee health screenings to include health history, immunizations update, and brief physical assessment. Conducts surveillance and follow-up of employee exposures to communicable diseases. Collaborates with Infection Control to plan, implement and conduct annual Flu Vaccine Program. Conducts TB screening for all new employees, all other employees, and volunteers according to the Hospital TB control plan and/or at least annually. Conducts follow-up skin testing for all employee TB exposures. Conducts fit test for all new employees, and all other employees, according to the Hospital plan and/or at least annually. Trends employee illnesses/injuries to identify safety and health issues. Maintains summaries and written reports required for employee illness/exposure reporting. Provides concise data and tracking of all exposures. Conducts new employee orientation in Infection Control/Employee Health as needed. Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees, patients, and the general public.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical/clinical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • 3 – 5 year’s experience as a Registered Nurse working in acute care or Employee Health setting.
  • Current Registered Nurse licensure (RN) in the State of California.
  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS)certification required
  • CPI is required within 30 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • LPN/LVNs with relevant experience will be considered for this position.
  • Education in employee health and/or infection control preferred.
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Employee Health Certification preferred
  • Advance Life Support Certification preferred
