About The Position

The Division of Student Affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Madison is seeking a collaborative and service-oriented HR professional to serve as a trusted partner to employees and supervisors across assigned departments. In this dynamic role, you will be the primary point of contact for a broad range of human resources functions, including employee relations, recruitment, onboarding, performance support, policy interpretation, and employee engagement. You will help foster a positive and flourishing workplace culture by championing employee well-being, inclusion, recognition, and professional success while ensuring employees have access to the resources and support they need to thrive. In addition to providing consultative HR support, this position plays a key role in supporting departmental operations through personnel funding management, financial reconciliations, expense monitoring, and compliance-related activities. Working closely with leaders, employees, and campus partners, you will contribute to a high-quality candidate and employee experience, promote effective workplace practices, and support the Division of Student Affairs' commitment to creating a welcoming and inclusive environment where employees can do their best work in service of UW–Madison students.   • Experience building positive relationships and providing responsive support, guidance, or service to employees, students, customers, or other stakeholders in a complex organization
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, establish trust, and foster a welcoming and inclusive environment while working with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives
  • Experience managing multiple priorities, adapting to changing needs, and maintaining organization and attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise sound judgment, maintain confidentiality, and navigate sensitive situations with professionalism, empathy, and discretion.
  • Experience supporting administrative, operational, financial, or budgeting processes, including reviewing, tracking, reconciling, or processing transactions and related information.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements processes and procedures for one or many various HR functions such as employee trainings, recruitments, compensation, and payroll
  • Receives and responds to inquiries in-person, via email, and through various communication mediums and relays information to appropriate entities
  • Facilitates and processes complex transactions and programs according to established policies and procedures
  • Contributes to the development of strategic plans and directs staff implementation of initiatives in alignment with strategic goals
  • Serves as a consultative Human Resources resource and liaison. Interprets, advises on, applies and disseminates complex policies, procedures, and options to leadership and employees; and recommends best strategies according to established objectives and goals
  • Conducts monthly expense analysis and financial reconciliation activities, including review of budget workbooks, monitoring expenditures, and processing backup requisitions and Shared Investment Requests (SIRs) in accordance with established procedures.
  • Processes and monitors financial funding transactions, including non-salary cost transfers, accounting adjustments, payroll accounting adjustments, and other funding reallocations to ensure expenses are accurately charged and aligned with funding requirements
  • Maintains position and employee costing allocations by entering, updating, and validating funding strings for new hires, position changes, and ongoing personnel actions to support accurate payroll and financial reporting
  • Enhances the candidate and employee experience by coordinating welcoming, inclusive, and supportive experiences throughout the employment lifecycle and serving as a champion of culture, engagement, and workplace climate through initiatives that promote employee recognition, well-being, collaboration, belonging, and connection, fostering a positive and flourishing work environment where Student Affairs employees can thrive.
  • Audits human resources reports to ensure compliance with established policies and procedures
