About The Position

The Employee Engagement Specialist supports the Human Resources function for the Amherst Hospitality Campus, including Reikart House Hotel, Jazzboline Restaurant & Bar, and Hyatt Place Buffalo/Amherst. Working closely with the Human Resources Manager, this role contributes to the employee experience through recruiting and onboarding, employee communications, engagement initiatives, HR administration, and payroll support. The position is part-time, approximately 20–30 hours per week.

Requirements

• 1–3 years of experience in Human Resources, hospitality, office administration, customer service, or a related field.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Professionalism and discretion when handling confidential information.
• Experience with Microsoft Office.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with HRIS, payroll, or applicant tracking systems.
• Hospitality experience.

Responsibilities

• Support recruiting by posting positions, coordinating interviews, communicating with candidates, and assisting with pre-employment activities.
• Coordinate new-employee paperwork, orientation materials, and required training.
• Maintain employee records and HR documentation while ensuring confidentiality and compliance.
• Coordinate employee recognition programs and engagement initiatives.
• Help organize occasional employee appreciation events, wellness activities, and team-building opportunities.
• Create employee communications, newsletters, and announcements.
• Respond to employee questions about HR policies, benefits, and procedures.
• Assist with weekly payroll preparation, audits, and employee payroll questions.
• Provide administrative support to the Human Resources Manager on HR projects and initiatives.
