About The Position

The Employee Labor Relations Specialist will serve as a vital resource for front-line supervisors and Human Resources Business Partners, addressing employee relations and engagement concerns. This role involves providing expert advice, implementing HR projects, conducting investigations, and ensuring compliance with labor laws to support the company's business goals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years in Employee Relations
  • Experience in a non-union facility with a labor background preferred
  • Ability to manage Employee Relations independently
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Labor Relations, Business Administration, or related field
  • Strong proficiency with compensation systems and HRIS, including trend analysis and best practices

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or HR certification preferred
  • 7–10+ years of progressive experience in employee relations, labor relations, HR, or employment law environments
  • Experience in a supervisory role in both union and non-union work environments
  • Proven ability to create, implement, and administer HR projects, policies, and procedures
  • Experience with complex workplace investigations involving misconduct, harassment, discrimination, and policy violations
  • Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws and labor regulations
  • Experience in a unionized workforce, including grievance administration and collective bargaining
  • Proven ability to advise senior leadership on sensitive employee relations matters
  • Excellent conflict resolution, negotiation, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment
  • Experience preparing documentation for legal proceedings or external agency responses
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, case management tools, and Microsoft Suite
  • Strong project management, facilitation, and training delivery skills

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for front-line supervisors and HR Business Partners regarding employee relations and engagement concerns.
  • Provide advice and counsel to HR and business leaders on employee relations issues.
  • Implement HR projects to further the company’s business objectives efficiently.
  • Investigate employee complaints, workplace concerns, policy violations, and misconduct allegations.
  • Offer guidance to managers and front-line supervisors on management, performance, corrective actions, and conflict resolution.
  • Prepare, implement, and administer company policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of investigations, disciplinary actions, and employee relations cases.
  • Analyze workplace trends and recommend proactive employee engagement and risk mitigation strategies, training front-line supervisors on the same.
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local labor and employment laws.
  • Conduct training to ensure legally compliant workplace conduct, harassment prevention, and labor relations practices.
  • Collaborate with HR, legal counsel, and operational leadership on complex employee relations issues.
