About The Position

Veterinary Specialty Center (VSC) is seeking an Emergency Veterinarian for its 78,000-square-foot specialty and emergency hospital located in Bannockburn, Illinois. VSC is an employee-owned facility, offering a unique opportunity for veterinarians to have a real stake in the hospital's performance through an Employee Stock Ownership Plan. The role involves managing emergency cases from triage to discharge with autonomy, supported by certified and specialty-trained technicians, advanced diagnostic tools (3 Tesla MRI, 64-slice CT, hyperbaric oxygen), and immediate access to specialists in various fields including neurology, surgery, and critical care. The hospital is a VECCS Level I facility and a certified Level One Trauma Center.

Requirements

DVM or VMD degree.
Illinois license to practice.
Calm demeanor in high-pressure situations.
Comfort making decisions independently.
Ability to teach technicians during cases.

Nice To Haves

Internship-trained.
At least 3 years of emergency experience.

Responsibilities

Manage emergency cases from triage to discharge.
Make treatment decisions without committee or second-guessing.
Collaborate with certified and specialty-trained technicians.
Utilize advanced diagnostic tools such as MRI, CT, and in-house lab.
Consult with specialists in neurology, surgery, critical care, radiology, internal medicine, and other fields.
Provide mentorship to technicians.
Participate in daily grand rounds with specialists.
Utilize AI-assisted record dictation and case management software.
