EmERge Emergency Veterinarian Training Program

BluePearl Vet, LLC•Louisville, KY

About The Position

BluePearl’s EmERge Emergency Veterinarian Training Program is a one-year program designed to prepare participants to provide emergency veterinary care for pets in crisis. Participants join a team from day one and receive hands-on training, lectures, mentoring, and practical experience. The program welcomes recent graduates and experienced veterinary professionals interested in becoming emergency veterinarians. Training consists of 14 weeks of accelerated boot camp and initial training: two weeks of virtual asynchronous learning, two weeks of in-person cohort boot camp featuring hands-on labs, emergency case scenarios, and practical skills, followed by 10 weeks at the primary hospital rotating through emergency and critical care and other specialties. This is followed by 20 weeks of immersive, mentor-guided training and 18 weeks of experiential training with continued mentorship. A one-year work commitment after training is required, for a total two-year commitment. The program does not replace or substitute for an internship required to apply for a residency. Compensation is $4,615.38 bi-weekly (equivalent to $120,000 annually) during weeks 1–34. Market-rate compensation begins during weeks 35–52 for participants ready to start experiential training by week 37.
