About The Position

Open Door Mission has been restoring hope and changing lives for Rochester's men, women, and children since 1952. This role supports the Samaritan's House Emergency Shelter and Genesis House Transitional Housing programs, operating in a 24/7 environment. The position combines the accessibility of an emergency shelter with the structure of a case management-focused transitional program, aiming to help guests move towards independent living. Employees provide direct support, encouragement, and accountability to adult guests while ensuring safety, structure, and security within the program. This role is ideal for individuals aligned with a faith-based mission and with foundational experience or exposure to behavioral health, including residential, mental health, addiction, or trauma-informed care.

Requirements

  • Experience or demonstrated interest in behavioral health, mental health, addiction recovery, or human services.
  • Comfortable engaging with individuals in crisis or early stages of stabilization.
  • Willing to receive training and assist with CPR, First Aid, and Narcan administration as needed.
  • Must be willing to participate in prayer, devotions, and Gospel-centered engagement with guests.
  • Must be willing to undergo a mandatory 5-year Employment Verification Process.

Responsibilities

  • Support Samaritan's House Emergency Shelter and Genesis House Transitional Housing programs.
  • Provide direct support, encouragement, and accountability to adult guests.
  • Maintain safety, structure, and security within the program.
  • Assist with CPR, First Aid, and Narcan administration as needed.
  • Engage with individuals in crisis or early stages of stabilization.
  • Balance compassion with structure, accountability, and boundary-setting.
  • Participate in prayer, devotions, and Gospel-centered engagement with guests.
