The Emergency Services Coordinator is responsible for responding to inquiry calls regarding services, providing information and referrals, and overseeing the admission process. This includes ensuring the appropriateness of admissions, completing all required paperwork, pre-certifications, and benefit verifications. The role involves coordination with the Physician, Social Worker, U.R. Coordinator, and treatment team, as well as obtaining billing and insurance information and unit/program assignment. The coordinator must be knowledgeable about Hospital programs and services, understand growth and development needs specific to the age and population served, and provide accurate information to Hospital Administration and physicians regarding admissions, referrals, and discharges. Responsibilities also include conducting hospital tours, training other staff in the admission process, policies, and procedures, and ensuring compliance with all applicable laws, codes, rules, and regulations pertaining to psychiatric admissions. The role involves maintaining data and records for the intake and admission process, obtaining and organizing information on discharges, bed availability, admission times, and level of care assessments. A strong understanding of department computer systems is necessary, along with ensuring a safe and sanitary environment. The coordinator conducts the initial assessment, which includes prior treatment history, previous medications, health screen, family dynamics, and risk factors.
