About The Position

Vernon Health is seeking a dedicated Emergency Room Technician to support patient care and department operations. The role involves assisting with emergency care, patient evaluations, procedures, and department coordination. The ideal candidate has strong clinical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to respond effectively in urgent situations. The position is part-time, with approximately 60 hours per bi-weekly pay period and primarily 12-hour shifts from 11:00 AM to 11:00 PM. The schedule includes every-third-weekend and holiday rotation. The starting pay is $18.14 per hour, with an increase based on experience. Vernon Health is an independent, non-profit Critical Access Hospital serving the Viroqua community since 1951. Its campus includes a modern medical office building, family practice clinics, retail pharmacies, and an Orthopedic and General Surgery center.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Completion of a Certified Nursing Assistant program and current certification, or current Wisconsin EMT-Basic certification or NREMT certification.
CPR certification required.

Responsibilities

Answer calls and emergency radio inquiries and contact appropriate personnel.
Assist with admissions, transfers, and discharges.
Support emergency department evaluations and urgent care needs.
Take vital signs and assist with examinations and procedures, including chest tubes and suturing.
Set up cardiac monitors and perform blood pressure checks and pulse oximetry.
Assist with catheterization, phlebotomy, and starting or removing IVs.
Support code situations, including CPR, defibrillator use, and accurate documentation.
Apply 12-lead EKGs.
Maintain unit organization, inventory, and equipment.
Perform housekeeping and equipment care.
