About The Position

The Emergency Room Technical Assistant assists with patient care according to individual needs under the direct supervision of a registered nurse or provider. The role supports the Emergency Department team in delivering timely and effective care, provides technical assistance during emergency situations within the scope of practice, and helps maintain a safe and organized patient care environment. A 180-day orientation period must be completed successfully.

The position is based in the Emergency Department at Henry Ford Wyandotte Hospital, which serves the Downriver community.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• BCLS certification.
• One of the following: B-EMT certification; completion of a formal Medical Assistant program; completion of a formal nursing education program; completion of a formal medical doctor education program; or one year of applicable Emergency Room Technical experience.
• If qualifying through applicable Emergency Room Technical experience, complete the applicable certification or program within 12 months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Previous Emergency Department Technician or Medical Assistant experience.
• EMT license.
