About The Position

The Emergency Room Tech (ED Tech) is an unlicensed assistive person who helps provide patient care based on individual patient needs and within the scope of practice. The role also assists in maintaining a safe environment and works under the direction and supervision of the ED Registered Nurse or Charge Nurse.

Saint Michael's Medical Center is a 358-bed regional tertiary-care, teaching, and research center in Newark, New Jersey. It provides health care services using state-of-the-art technology and a network of physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Current BLS (AHA) certification within 30 days of hire and maintained as current.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.
• Current Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintained as current.

Nice To Haves

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire.
• At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office.
