About The Position

MedVet is a fast-growing emergency and specialty veterinary provider with practices nationwide, offering advanced medical treatments and innovations. The Emergency Registered Veterinary Technician works with the clinical team to support patient care and deliver a positive experience for clients, patients, and teammates. The role suits technicians who enjoy a fast-paced environment, can shift gears quickly, and handle stressful critical situations. The proposed full-time schedule is Monday and Thursday from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m., plus alternating Saturdays and Sundays from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. The position requires a state Registered Veterinary Technician license and prior veterinary experience; previous emergency experience is desired.

Requirements

State Registered Veterinary Technician license required.
Prior veterinary experience required.
Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant-rate infusions, and unit conversions.
Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Previous emergency veterinary experience desired.

Responsibilities

Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as necessary.
Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize them based on assessment.
Partner with the patient care team regarding treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
Provide client education, including home care instructions, medication indications and adverse reactions, and general wellness updates on hospitalized patients.
Assist the DVM with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
Provide monitoring and nursing care to hospitalized patients.
Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
