The emergency department is fast-paced, with varied cases and critical situations that require technicians to shift gears quickly and work effectively under stress.

Requirements

State Registered Veterinary Technician license.
Prior veterinary experience.
Proficiency in calculations, including drug calculations, constant rate infusions, and unit conversions.
Flexibility with work hours and ability to work additional hours when necessary.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Previous emergency veterinary experience.

Responsibilities

Record and deliver organized rounds, discuss cases, and gather additional information as needed.
Evaluate incoming patients and prioritize care based on assessment.
Partner with the patient care team on treatment plans, client communication, and nursing care concerns.
Educate clients on home care instructions, medications and their indications and adverse reactions, and wellness updates for hospitalized patients.
Assist veterinarians with patient assessment, treatment, and procedures.
Monitor and provide nursing care to hospitalized patients.
Induce and monitor general anesthesia and sedation procedures.
Perform in-house laboratory testing and prepare samples for outside laboratory testing.
