About The Position

Hants Community Hospital (HCH) is seeking full-time or part-time emergency medicine physicians to join their team. There is an opportunity to engage in research and/or teaching positions with Dalhousie University, as well as local simulation-based opportunities. The HCH Emergency Department is approximately 40 minutes from the region's tertiary care pediatric facility, the IWK Health Centre, and the Queen Elizabeth II Health Sciences Centre. HCH services include a 24-hour emergency department, inpatient care (28 hospital beds), a long-term care facility (32 beds), surgery programs (general and orthopedic), several specialty clinics (obstetrics, gynecology, pediatrics, hematology), and a mental health team. On-call services are provided from Halifax and Kentville.

Requirements

All applicants must be eligible for licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Nova Scotia (CPSNS).
All family physicians must have membership with the College of Family Physicians of Canada (CFPC).
All specialists must be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada (RCPSC).
Membership with the Canadian Medical Protective Association (CMPA).
All applicants must have a current PALS Certification.
All applicants must have a current ATLS Certification.
All applicants must have a current ACLS Certification.

Responsibilities

Duties include full scope of practice as an emergency physician.
The physician will be responsible to the department head for emergency medicine for their professional responsibilities and quality of practice, and will operate within the Medical Staff Bylaws of the Nova Scotia Health Authority.
