About The Position

AMR is offering a unique opportunity for individuals interested in a rewarding career in pre-hospital medicine. This program, 'Earn While You Learn' (EWYL), sponsored by AMR EMT ACADEMY, allows eligible candidates to be hired as full-time employees and receive a training wage while attending a rigorous six-week EMT Academy. The academy prepares students to take the National Registry of EMT exam. Upon successful completion of the exam and subsequent Arizona State EMCT-EMT Basic Certification, the employee will transition to an EMT position. This program covers all costs associated with the training, including books, tuition, fees, and uniforms. The program aims to train individuals to provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical patients, acting as a vital link in the emergency medical system.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years old
Have a HS diploma or GED
Have a valid Driver License with NO Restrictions
Successfully complete thorough pre-employment screening (motor vehicle and criminal background checks, drug testing, physical agility test). Note: Drug screening includes THC/Marijuana; applicants testing positive will be disqualified.
Successfully complete a Reading Assessment administered by Pima College and meet entrance standards
Sign 18-month service commitment/agreement

Responsibilities

Provide basic emergency medical care and transportation for critical and emergent patients.
Perform interventions with basic equipment typically found on an ambulance.
Function as part of a comprehensive EMS response under medical oversight.
Act as a link from the scene to the emergency health care system.
