This position is located in the Response Directorate, Planning Division, National Planning Branch. The ideal candidate for this position will have knowledge and experience relevant to emergency management planning and operations for a variety of hazards. They will apply the principles of the National Incident Management System; use project management, data analytics, and customer service in their daily work; and lead teams to solve challenging problems. In this position, you will serve as an Emergency Management Specialist. Typical assignments include: Coordinating response/recovery planning teams to develop federal plans, including the Response and Recovery Federal Incident Operations Plan and related incident annexes. Using project management, data analytics, and customer service skills to organize federal level planning teams. Serving in incident management or incident support roles during response and recovery activations. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.
