About The Position

This position is located in Region 7 National Preparedness Division. The ideal candidate for this position will possess experience managing the administration of an organization's continuity of operations program to include experience with continuity training, exercises, and plan development; and knowledge, development, advising, and maintaining a Sensitive Compartmented Information program. In this position, you will be an Emergency Management Specialist. Typical assignments include: Providing expert program guidance related to the planning, conduct, and analysis of national, regional, and FEMA continuity programs. Coordinating the implementation of FEMA's national security-related and continuity activities. Participating in and coordinating the near-term and long-range development, planning, and implementation of Agency continuity programs and plans. Drafting and reviewing continuity plans for effectiveness and integration with national security programs related to other federal, state, local, tribal, and territorial governments, non-governmental organizations, and private sector critical infrastructure owners and operators. Collecting, analyzing, and summarizing continuity and national security programs and operations data and statistics to evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of internal continuity processes and procedures. Providing briefings on continuity programs to wide-ranging audiences. Every FEMA employee has regular and recurring emergency management responsibilities, though not every position requires routine deployment to disaster sites. All positions are subject to recall around the clock for emergency management operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the official duty station, and may include duties other than those specified in the employee's official position description. Travel requirements in support of emergency operations may be extensive in nature (weeks to months), with little advance notice, and may require employees to relocate to emergency sites with physically austere and operationally challenging conditions.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. citizen.
  • Must successfully pass a background investigation.
  • Selective Service registration required.
  • Current federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government credit card.
  • Must be able to deploy with little or no advance notice to anywhere in the United States and its territories for an extended period of time.
  • Coordinating, planning, developing, or delivering comprehensive emergency preparedness, response, or recovery operations to meet the needs of federal, state, local, private sector or community partners.
  • Collaborating effectively with stakeholders, including government agencies, emergency services, or community organization.
  • Developing and executing plans that enhance overall organizational emergency preparedness and operation continuity.
