The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs (DMVA), Division of Homeland Security and Emergency Management (DHS&EM), Exercise Section, is recruiting for an Emergency Management Specialist 2. This position is in the General Government (GGU) bargaining unit at a range 16. This position is open to Alaska Residents only. This position requires full-time on-site work at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson to facilitate collaboration with various divisions supported by Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Remote work may be permitted up to two days a week, subject to the hiring manager’s approval and/or successful completion of probation. As the newest team member at DHS&EM, you will play a vital role in enhancing statewide and local preparedness for a wide range of emergencies, including natural and human-caused incidents that impact lives, health, infrastructure, and property. Your responsibilities will include leading the development, implementation, and management of a modern, progressive, and practical exercise program to ensure readiness across the state. Additionally, you will oversee, coordinate, and evaluate jurisdictional exercise activities across all Alaska boroughs and communities representing over 90% of the state's population, ensuring a unified and effective emergency response framework.
