The Prince William County Office of Emergency Management is seeking a Senior Emergency Management Specialist to manage multiple complex preparedness projects. This role involves developing, revising, and implementing planning documents, creating and delivering training, and developing, executing, and evaluating exercises. The position requires coordination with internal and external partners, team leadership, and strong project management and organizational skills. This is a Mid-Level Emergency Management Planning position responsible for routine coordination, collaboration, and facilitation of multiple, complex preparedness project processes and meetings with a variety of emergency management partners from concept development through implementation. It also involves the development and maintenance of all-hazard planning frameworks, function and hazard-specific plans, and operational documents, including procedures, checklists, and job aids for preparedness, response, recovery, and mitigation activities of the Emergency Management program. The role requires aligning and integrating planning projects with other county plans, policies, procedures, governmental policies, and complex planning principles. Additionally, the incumbent will be responsible for the development and delivery of emergency management-related training and the development, execution, and evaluation of discussion- and operations-based exercises. During activations, the incumbent is expected to fill a Section Chief or Branch Director role in the County’s Multi-Agency Coordination Center, requiring experience in an emergency operations center environment, preferably from a local or state emergency management agency.
