This position is responsible for professional management and work within the Emergency Management Programs of the Department of Public Works to include daily activities of the County's emergency management program and the operational readiness of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC). An employee in this position is responsible for the overall supervision and administration of the County's emergency planning and preparedness programs including developing, recommending and administering County policy, procedures and plans for emergency management mitigation, planning, preparedness, response, and recovery activities. Coordinates all ongoing emergency management preparedness and planning efforts such as creation, revision and maintenance of emergency management plans, to include the Klickitat County Comprehensive Emergency Plan, the Hazard Mitigation Plan and other, policies, procedures and plans, ensuring they comply with federal, state and local agency programs. Can serve as the County’s EOC Manager or other EOC positions during EOC activations for major incidents & disaster. Works according to State and Federal regulations, and County policies and procedures. This position reports to the Director of Public Works, however, exercises independent judgement while operating under governing rules and regulations and the Klickitat County Emergency Management Plans. Work is reviewed and approved by the Director of Public Works through reports, meetings, conferences and program results achieved.
