An employee in this position performs supervisory and administrative work coordinating the County’s emergency management program, SARA Title III hazardous materials program, and the Radiological Emergency Preparedness Program for the Emergency Management division of Harnett County. This includes: assisting in the development of the County Emergency Operations Plan; consulting, advising, enforcing and monitoring SARA title III hazardous materials; coordinating and managing emergency and disaster situations; and planning and coordinating disaster mitigation planning and projects; planning, developing, implementing, and maintaining a series of Countywide emergency response plans that addresses mitigation, response, and recovery; coordinating and managing the Emergency Operations Center during a disaster; consulting with nursing homes, hospitals, schools, etc. on effective response and recovery plans; and coordinating plans with other counties, state, and federal agencies. Work is performed under the supervision of the Emergency Services Deputy Director. The EM Coordinator supervises subordinate staff within the Emergency Management division.
