Under the direction of the Nueces County Judge, the Emergency Management Coordinator (EMC) leads the planning, coordination, and administration of the Nueces County Emergency Management Program and oversees the daily operations of the Office of Emergency Management. The EMC provides leadership for the five mission areas of emergency management, including preparedness, mitigation, response, and recovery. The EMC develops and maintains emergency plans, policies, and procedures; coordinates training and exercises; builds partnerships with local, state, federal, private-sector, and nonprofit organizations; maintains emergency equipment and notification systems; ensures the County's Emergency Operations Center (EOC) remains mission ready; manages EOC operations during emergencies; and advises, coordinates with, and supports the County Judge in executing his/her responsibilities as the County's Director of Emergency Management. The EMC coordinates emergency response and resources, provides operational guidance, supports public information efforts, and facilitates mutual aid and state assistance. This position requires sound judgment, independent decision-making, and the ability to lead complex emergency operations.
