About The Position
Newberry Health is seeking a dedicated Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to join their team. This role supports physicians and nursing staff in providing high-quality care to patients in a fast-paced emergency room setting. The ED Tech will assist with patient care, perform basic clinical procedures, and ensure the department operates efficiently while maintaining patient safety and comfort. Newberry Health is a 90-bed, acute care, independent, not-for-profit hospital located in Newberry County, South Carolina, recognized with the Joint Commission Gold Seal of Approval.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalency required
- Basic Life Support (BLS) required
Nice To Haves
- Clinical experience in an acute care-nursing environment preferred
Responsibilities
- Assist nurses and physicians with patient care, treatments, and procedures
- Obtain and record vital signs (blood pressure, pulse, temperature, etc.)
- Perform basic clinical tasks such as EKGs, blood draws, splinting, wound care, and specimen collection (as permitted)
- Transport patients to and from diagnostic areas or inpatient units
- Monitor patient conditions and report changes to nursing staff promptly
- Prepare exam rooms and maintain cleanliness and organization in the ED
- Stock and restock medical supplies and equipment
- Assist in emergency situations, including CPR and trauma response
