The ED Tech provides direct patient care under the guidance of a RN or designated healthcare professional in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations, and within policies, procedures, and guidelines of Bon Secours Mercy Health. This role involves providing basic patient care and tasks such as care and comfort, vital sign measurement, personal care and hygiene, assisting with mobility, performing lab draws, ECGs, basic wound care, and other unit-based specialty duties under the direction of an RN. The technician will also complete patient rounding, provide 1:1 patient safety companion services as needed, and act as a liaison between the patient and nurse to report changes and concerns. High level customer service is expected for all patients, families, providers, visitors, and employees. Accurate, precise, and timely documentation is required as applicable to patient care. The role also includes participating in handoff reports, performing delegated tasks after competency validation, collecting data within scope, and completing patient screenings. Promoting quality and safety by seeking to continually improve processes and systems to enhance patient care delivery is essential. The technician must demonstrate the ability to work independently, problem-solve, and resolve conflict while working under considerable stress, and maintain knowledge of policies and procedures.
