About The Position

Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital seeks an Emergency Department Technician to provide direct and indirect patient care under the direction of appropriate licensed personnel. The technician facilitates care to meet patients’ daily living activity needs by providing clerical, physical, and emotional support, while assisting licensed personnel in managing critically ill patients. The role also assists with workflow for unlicensed assistive personnel in the department.

Requirements

• American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS).
• California Emergency Medical Technician certification, California Emergency Medical Technician–Paramedic certification, or National EMT certification.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduation or equivalent.
• Ability to use computer charting (electronic medical record) and computer order entry.
• Patient Care Tech or equivalent experience in an acute care, emergency, or pre-hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Render direct and indirect patient care under the direction of appropriate licensed personnel.
• Support patients’ daily living activity needs with clerical, physical, and emotional assistance.
• Assist licensed personnel in the management of critically ill patients.
• Assist with workflow of unlicensed assistive personnel in the department.
