About The Position

The Emergency Department Tech provides basic patient management in the Emergency Department under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role assists with patient care based on individual patient needs and helps maintain consistent patient flow by rooming and discharging patients as needed. Duties include taking vital signs, performing EKGs, collecting specimens, and documenting appropriately in the EMR. The Tech sets up and assists with select procedures, including pelvic exams, laceration repairs, and incision and drainage of abscesses. As trained, the Tech may also perform procedures such as stitch or staple removal, ear wax removal, phlebotomy, and splinting. The role also includes stocking rooms and areas with supplies and requires good communication skills.

Requirements

• Knowledge of safety measures is required.
• Current BLS Certification is required.
• Good communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• One year of emergency department experience is preferred.
• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• CNA, EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic certification.
• Medical terminology knowledge.
