This role is 24 hours per week, with shifts from 11a-11:30p, including rotating weekends and holidays. The Emergency Department Coordinator is responsible for maintaining the E.D. medical record, including review for completeness, entering charges, departing charts, entering data into the computer, assembling files, and performing discharge analysis. This role also includes unit receptionist responsibilities such as maintaining the telephone log, greeting visitors, specimen delivery, mail distribution, and booking elective procedures. The coordinator handles all clerical duties in the E.D., transcribes and enters physician orders and medication orders via computer, and maintains proper inventory of office supplies, forms, and equipment. Additional duties include assembling charts, admission packets, reviewing documentation for accuracy, charging for services, and operating multiple telephones with professional etiquette. The role requires accurate and efficient documentation of workflow, including maintenance of logs and statistical databases. The coordinator also facilitates the securing of transportation services like ambulances and helicopter transport, responds to clinical and support directives, and assists Patient Access Representatives to ensure effective patient registration.
