About The Position

Baystate Health is seeking an Emergency Department Technician (ED Tech) to join our Emergency Department team at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, Massachusetts. Our Emergency Department team provides care to a diverse adult patient population, working closely with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver safe, compassionate, high-quality care.

Requirements

• GED or HiSET (Required)
• Basic Life Support - American Heart Association
• Certified Medical Assistant - Other
• Certified Phlebotomy Technician - Other
• Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) - Basic - National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians

Responsibilities

• Provides safe, compassionate, age-appropriate care; obtains and documents vital signs, intake/output, specimens, and other patient measurements; promptly reports changes in condition.
• Performs phlebotomy, point-of-care testing, specimen collection, dressing changes, and other approved clinical procedures in accordance with BMC policies.
• Assists RNs and providers with patient care, examinations, treatments, procedures, and emergency situations within the assigned scope of practice.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team and accurately documents patient care, observations, treatments, and testing in the EMR.
• Maintains a safe, clean patient environment and collaborates with the healthcare team to support patient safety, teamwork, and efficient Emergency Department patient flow.
