The Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) is seeking an embedded systems engineer to build and prototype technology applications for future electronic warfare (EW) systems, contributing to efforts to ensure the US and its allies dominate in the RF spectrum. The role works with systems engineers, algorithm developers, FPGA and embedded software engineers, and other EW technology specialists to develop creative solutions to complex challenges and bring concepts through prototyping. The position develops software and firmware for real-time embedded systems; implements digital signal processing (DSP) algorithms for communications, radar, and EW systems; integrates embedded systems with EW payloads; applies machine learning and artificial intelligence algorithms to EW applications; and tests and demonstrates work in field tests and laboratory demonstrations. APL describes its workplace as a vibrant, welcoming atmosphere that supports employees bringing their authentic selves to work, growing professionally, building connections, and contributing creative ideas. The position is based at APL’s campus in the Baltimore-Washington metro area. The role requires eligibility to obtain an Interim Secret clearance by the start date and ultimately a Top Secret clearance; eligibility for classified access requires U.S. citizenship.
