About The Position

The Elite Stylist engages with guests, consults with them about their hair care needs, and recommends products and services. The role delivers professional salon services with an emphasis on the guest’s total look and supports the Experience Manager and Assistant Services Manager. It focuses on service sales and productivity, guest service, and compliance with operating procedures and standards. The position calls for a passion for beauty, exceptional guest service, and the ability to learn and communicate product knowledge.

The stylist performs hair and related beauty services, builds guest relationships and clientele, supports store sales and events, and collaborates with salon and retail colleagues. The position also requires following service protocols, safety and sanitation rules, state board guidelines, and store operational standards. A cosmetology license and previous relevant work experience are required. The role includes a flexible schedule that may include days, evenings, weekends, and holidays, as well as continuous mobility and other physical demands during shifts.

Requirements

• Cosmetology license.
• Previous relevant work experience.
• Proficiency in salon techniques for haircutting, hair color, lightening, styling, texture, treatments, extensions, makeup, and ear piercing where applicable, or aptitude to develop skills in all service categories.
• Proficiency with equipment and chemicals needed for technical work.
• Ability to demonstrate, recommend, and sell professional hair care and makeup products.
• Developed communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to build and maintain strong customer relationships and develop clientele.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that includes days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Perform hair and related services, including hair design, haircuts, color, texture, treatments, styling, updos, perms, blowouts, keratin treatments, extensions, makeup applications, and ear piercing where applicable.
• Meet or exceed the average weekly sales goal of $1,900 and productivity goals for hair services; contribute to store retail and service sales, guest loyalty, and retail shrink goals.
• Demonstrate products to guests to support sales and the guest service experience.
• Support in-store events, promotions, and marketing initiatives.
• Stay informed about industry trends, products, and services during work time, including their ingredients and benefits.
• Maintain prompt, regular attendance.
• Build guest relationships through consultations and appropriate product and service recommendations.
• Serve all guests, including walk-ins, in a timely and efficient manner.
• Partner with skin therapists and the retail team to provide a well-rounded guest experience.
• Build professional relationships with peers and brand partners to support collaborative guest service.
• Promote the guest loyalty program, including credit and the Ulta Beauty app, to guests in the salon and salesfloor.
• Attend mandatory trainings and meetings for ongoing professional development.
• Follow Ulta Beauty policies, procedures, standards, and state board guidelines.
• Follow safety, sanitation, and infection-control procedures before, during, and after services.
• Follow established service protocols to provide a consistent guest experience.
• Use booking and clientele systems to schedule return services and events.
• Communicate supply needs to the Experience Manager and keep the salon ready for guests.
• Maintain cleanliness and operational standards in assigned store areas.
• Follow the Ulta Beauty dress code and loss prevention practices to protect company assets.
• Complete other operational tasks as directed.
