We invite you to watch our "Welcome to DPA" video here: https://vimeo.com/1023052645?share=copy In this role, you will be part of the Public Assistance Eligibility Team focused on helping Alaskan families statewide reach higher levels of independence and self-sufficiency. You’ll determine eligibility for a range of state and federal assistance programs, such as Medicaid, SNAP, Heating Assistance, Cash Assistance, and more. Your responsibilities will include interviewing applicants, reviewing their financial and personal information, and applying program rules to determine their eligibility, making accurate and timely decisions in line with policies and regulations. For applicants who are determined eligible, you will initiate authorization of benefits for services and other supports. You will be working across multiple computer interfaces in this position.

Requirements

  • One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska; OR One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
  • Computer Skills: Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Oral and Written Communication: Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Self-Management: Sets well-defined and realistic personal goals; displays a high level of initiative, effort, and commitment towards completing assignments promptly; works with minimal supervision; is motivated to achieve.
  • Customer Service: Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside State government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
  • Resilience: Deals effectively with pressure; remains optimistic and persistent, even under adversity. Recovers quickly from setbacks.
