Eligibility Technicians connect the public with a variety of public assistance programs and services while also contributing to system improvements by participating in user acceptance testing for new system developments and enhancements. This postion is located in Wasilla, Alaska The work location is 855 W Commercial Drive, Wasilla, AK 99654 This position joins a statewide eligibility workflow team in local Public Assistance offices across the state.

Requirements

  • One year of entry level experience as an Eligibility Technician 1 with the State of Alaska; OR One year performing similar work that developed knowledge and skills in applying program requirements and working with client customers in stressful situations.
  • Knowledge of federal and/or state government or public assistance benefit regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Expresses information to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial).
  • Makes clear and convincing oral and written presentations.
  • Listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
  • Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgement to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.
  • Uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
  • Three (3) professional references, whom we may contact by phone, are required.
  • One (1) of these references must be your current or most recent supervisor, if not already provided in the application.
