About The Position
La Clinica de Familia (LCDF) is a Federally Qualified Health Center with several locations in Southern New Mexico. For more than 40 years, it has provided services to Southern New Mexico residents. Its mission is to empower and enrich families, individuals, and communities by providing quality medical, dental, behavioral health, and educational services for people of all cultures. The Eligibility Specialist is the first point of contact for incoming patients who have no insurance or payer source. The role qualifies patients for financial assistance available through federal, state, and local programs and assists with various Billing Department functions. This is a non-exempt position.
Requirements
- High school graduation or equivalent.
- One year of medical business office experience.
- Ability to use a personal vehicle for work when needed.
- Maintain a clean driving record.
- Submit to LCDF-required background check, TB screen, and drug testing.
Nice To Haves
- Medical terminology and business office courses.
- Two years of medical business office experience.
- Experience in social services.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the first contact for incoming patients who have no insurance or payer source.
- Qualify patients for financial assistance available through federal, state, and local programs.
- Assist with various functions of the Billing Department.
- Use a personal vehicle in the course of employment when needed.
