About The Position

Kokua Education is hiring elementary substitute teachers in San Antonio, Texas, for the 2026–27 school year. Substitute teachers cover assignments at K–12 schools and help foster students’ interest in learning by serving as positive role models. Teachers can set their own schedule and work up to five days per week in assignments they are excited about, with opportunities to work close to home and potentially pursue permanent roles at high-performing schools. Kokua offers support daily from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Daily assignments pay $140 per day, and long-term assignments pay $172 per day, with weekly pay via W-2. Requirements

• At least one year of experience working with children in any setting, such as a classroom, tutoring, or coaching.
• At least 48 college credit hours completed.
• Confidence managing a classroom of students.
• Willingness to step in where needed, including supervision, tutoring, and test proctoring.
• Must pass state and federal background checks.
• Believe that every child has a unique and powerful gift to share with the world.
