General Dynamics Information Technology
•$79,900 - $108,100•Onsite

About The Position

The Electronics Technician maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs the Electronic Power Plant (EPP), generator systems, power distribution assemblies, and associated electronic controls that supply operational power to the Patriot missile launcher. The role calls for advanced expertise in electrical and electronic systems, component-level diagnostics, power-generation support, and integrated launcher power architecture to ensure system readiness, electrical safety, and continuous power delivery in tactical and deployed environments. Work is performed around high-voltage systems, rotating machinery, hazardous fuels and lubricants, and in outdoor or tactical field environments. The technician must use required personal protective equipment and comply with OSHA, Army safety standards, environmental regulations, and theater-specific deployment requirements. Extended hours, shift work, and overseas deployments may be required. The position is onsite in an international location, requires 25–50% travel, and has a scheduled 40-hour workweek.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least 7 years of experience in electronic or generator maintenance.
  • Expert knowledge of AC/DC theory, power generation systems, voltage regulation, excitation circuits, and protective relay operation.
  • Proficiency in component-level troubleshooting, power quality analysis, and diagnostics using schematics and technical manuals.
  • Experience maintaining tactical generator systems, such as EPP-III/EPP-IV or equivalent military-grade equipment.
  • Ability to interpret electrical diagrams, wiring schematics, and troubleshooting flowcharts.
  • Strong analytical, communication, and documentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in harsh or hazardous environmental conditions.
  • Active U.S. Secret clearance and ability to deploy worldwide as required.
  • Ability to stand and sit for extended periods and lift 40 pounds.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and passport.
  • Must attend and pass medical requirements as part of the CRC deployment center process.
  • U.S. citizenship required.

  • Experience with military systems; Patriot experience is strongly preferred.
  • Familiarity with Patriot missile system power architecture and support equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair AC/DC power circuits, voltage regulation systems, excitation circuits, contactor assemblies, protective relays, and generator control logic.
  • Test and repair EPP control panels, annunciator systems, indicator boards, analog and digital meters, safety interlocks, and logic relay systems.
  • Conduct generator synchronization, load-sharing calibration, phase balancing, and waveform stability analysis.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, including insulation resistance tests, oscilloscope waveform analysis, slip-ring inspections, oil and coolant sampling, fuel system checks, and battery system maintenance.
  • Analyze faults across EPP-to-Launcher and EPP-to-ECS interface cables; verify continuity, grounding, shielding integrity, and load capacity.
  • Use electrical schematics, block diagrams, wiring diagrams, and Army Technical Manuals (ETMs/IETMs) to perform and troubleshoot maintenance.
  • Maintain and repair wiring harnesses, MIL-STD connectors, circuit breakers, relays, transformers, sensors, fuses, and solid-state control modules.
  • Ensure proper grounding and bonding for generator and launcher power subsystems and verify compliance with Army high-voltage safety standards.
  • Perform firmware or software updates on modernized control modules when applicable.
  • Document maintenance activities, inspections, deficiencies, and component replacements in Army maintenance management systems.
  • Provide technical assistance to launcher crews, ECS operators, and maintenance teams.
  • Enforce lockout/tagout procedures, electrical safety protocols, HAZMAT handling standards, and applicable OSHA and Army regulations.
  • Support operations in extreme environments, austere conditions, and deployment rotations as mission requires.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
