US Navy Electronics Repair Technician
About The Position
GDIT is seeking an Electronics Technician Maintenance II to perform complex technical functions supporting the US Navy. This role involves the setup, operation, maintenance, modifications, circuit testing, calibration, and troubleshooting of electronic or electro-mechanical components and systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models, and specialized test equipment. The technician will also repair or modify cables and equipment, work with through-hole and surface-mount components, and utilize schematics, diagrams, and written/verbal instructions with minimal supervision. Responsibilities include conducting complex engineering tests, diagnosing equipment and system malfunctions, assisting in the development of electronic equipment, and potentially providing guidance to less experienced technicians. The role requires using engineered drawings, statements of work, and technical manuals for cable systems and preparing/installing distribution equipment.
Requirements
- 3+ years of related experience in US Replacing Navy Electronics
- Associate degree or equivalent experience.
- Proficient with through hole and surface mount components.
Nice To Haves
- IPC Certification is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Perform complex technical functions in support of engineering activities including set up, operations, maintenance, modifications, circuit testing, calibration and troubleshooting of electronic or electro-mechanical components and systems, experimental design circuitry, prototype models and/or specialized test equipment.
- Repair or modify cables and equipment returned by operational users or by personnel in the associated test and development laboratories.
- Build, repair or modify complex cables.
- Be proficient with through hole and surface mount components.
- Work from schematics, diagrams, written, and verbal instructions with minimal supervision.
- Conduct complex engineering tests to collect design data or assist in general research work.
- Diagnose and isolate equipment and system malfunctions that fail to respond to standard corrective measures.
- Assist in the development of electronic equipment.
- Provide guidance and leadership work to less experienced technicians.
- Use engineered drawings, statements of work, and technical manuals to determine requirements for cable systems.
- Prepare and install distribution equipment and terminate tip cables on main distribution frames.
- Ensures techniques, materials, and accomplishments meeting technical standards and specifications and engineering directives.
